At its core, the program will aim to support the junior riders and help Derrick race Nationally and Internationally. This year we ll have some training camps, a bit more structure to the campaign and way more fun. If you re a young rider interested on joining. There will be great opportunities to learn the craft which is Cyclocross through training camps and training and lots of off the bike. Details are not completely finalized but we are working on it.

Bike to Work Month is a yearly campaign that encourages people to try cycling as a fun and healthy option for getting to and from work. Participants in the campaign:

• Are eligible to win individual and team prizes
• Have fun by creating a workplace team and engaging in friendly competition
• Have access to free tools and resources
• Save money (if they hop out of their car)
• Turn their commute into a daily workout

Whether you want to try biking to work for the first time, use the campaign to encourage your employer to support alternative commuting options, or encourage others at your workplace to give it a try, Bike to Work Month is a fun, free way to kick off the warmer season.

Bike to Work Month, an EnviroCentre initiative, is made possible with the support of local businesses, sponsors and our partnership with the City of Ottawa.

How it works

You can participate in Bike to Work Month as an individual or be part of a team:

• Simply sign up by creating a user name and password to access your personal profile page (don’t worry, our site is secure and no personal information is ever shared or sold).
• Once you have registered, you can start or join a workplace team, or participate as an individual.

From there, you will be able to:

• Log your bike commutes during the month of May
• Track your progress and see the positive impact you are making
• Learn how much money you have saved and pollution you have averted

During May, we also conduct random draws and give away over $10,000 in individual and team prizes.

The annual 57 Ride for Roger Neilson’s House is set to take off this June! Once again, we’ll be riding from Toronto to Ottawa and we are proud to be supporting this amazing facility for a second year in a row.  Our goal is to raise funds and awareness for a place that enriches the lives of children, youth and their families facing progressive life limiting illnesses.

This year we will help fund the creation of a music therapy program, bereavement counselling for parents and siblings, materials for the play rooms as well as fund the first ever summer camp to be held at Roger Neilson’s House.

The Ride of the Damned is a unique not-for-profit cycling event that started in 2009. velofix Ottawa supported the event for the first time in 2017 as a SAG vehicle – handing out gels, fixing flats (even a tubular blow out) and whatever else came our way.

This event is a must-do for anyone who likes rolling hills, a scenic ride, a well-supported ride and a bit of gravel. The course is just over 100km and is a mix of paved and hard-packed gravel through rural Quebec cities, just North of Ottawa.

It’s really quite a simple story – the Founder, Angella Goran has a vast love for cycling, triathlon and community. With a background as an indoor cycling instructor for over 18 years and an elite athlete in both disciplines the idea came to mind to create a different type of program or club that was inclusive of all those that love to bike, eat, socialize and have FUN!

In the heart of the nations capital city and in celebration of Canada’s 150th there’s no better time to launch a new program that brings together business collaboration and community engagement. Ottawa is an amazing city that has some of the best terrain in all of Canada for cyclists and triathletes to ride on [and race!].

Blackburn Hamlet is a community nestled in Ottawa’s Greenbelt. The Blackburn Community Association (BCA) represents and supports the community.

velofix Ottawa volunteered at the Cycle Recycle Event. At this event, local residents were encouraged to bring a kids bike that was no longer being used, so that it could be passed onto someone local who could use it.

velofix Ottawa offered to tune up all the bikes before sending them to a new home. After a full day of bike fixing and fixing flat tires, we were able to repair over 150 kids bikes!

Two days. Four routes. 200 to 420 kms. 1800 riders!

Rideau Lakes Cycling Tour – one of the country’s longest-running cycling events – is now in it’s 47th year. This two-day ride takes you through picturesque towns and villages along the Rideau Lakes waterway to the shores of Lake Ontario.

Are you up for the challenge?

The Rideau Lakes Cycling Tour will add plenty of mileage to your odometer. Total weekend distances range from 200 to 420 kms. That’s back-to-back metric centuries and back-to-back double metric centuries!

If you ask velofix – this is THE event of the year. It regularly sells out, so sign up soon and get ready for an unparalleled experience. velofix Ottawa has done SAG support for RLCT since 2015. We patrol the century and classic routes, helping cyclists stay on their bikes!

velofix Ottawa has been the lead cyclist for this event since 2015. We’ve seen temperatures as low as -45 celcius and has high as 13 celcius. This event is a staple in the Ottawa running community and offers distances from 3km to 42.2km.

If you’re looking for an early season run – look no further!

First run in 1972, Preston Street was founded by local cycling legends Alan Large and Peter Tyler. Each Fathers’ Day since then the race has been a part of the Italian Festival in Ottawa’s Little Italy.

The race course and format have evolved over the years, but it remains a great way to spend a few hours in a charismatic part of the city. And with Rogers TV out to cover the event, you can catch the broadcast in Ottawa and Toronto later in the month.

The Smith Falls Triathlon is the longest standing triathlon in Canada! Having run for over 40 years, this event has a lot of history.

The event is now an evening race, which is really unique for a triathlon. You can choose from several distances and they even offer a duathlon and run series. With something for everyone, think about adding Smith Falls to your calendar.

The Sydenham Triathlon is an annual event organized by Somersault. They offer a range of different races and distances.

Every year cyclists of all ages and fitness levels across Canada come together to fundraise for and participate in MS Bike. When MS Bike participants gear up they are taking a stand against MS and are supporting those affected by multiple sclerosis. Join us as we ride to build a more hopeful future for Canadians living with MS.

velofix has supported this event since 2015 and we hope to support it for years to come. We offer SAG support on-course and at the NAV center. We’re there all day and night to help you stay on your bike.

K-Town is an event that we raced in for years! It’s a staple in the local triathlon scene and it’s still a race that brings together the best athletes from across Ontario.

We’ve been supporting K-Town since 2016, offering our services to athletes on race-day. We hope you never need our services on event day, but don’t let that stop you from coming by and saying hello!

This Somersault event recently added the Brockville Tunnel to their race course. Of every event we’ve seen – on TV, as a participant or as a sponsor – we’ve never seen a feature as fun and unique as the Brockville Tunnel.

If for nothing else, come by and race the Tunnel!

We’ve designed THE RIDE, with you in mind. It’s a great event for experienced riders, and allows recreational cyclists to try something new. The goal is moving research forward at The Ottawa Hospital.

Each rider will take away a unique experience; having met new friends, laughed, and most of all, supported key research projects at The Ottawa Hospital. We are one of the largest learning and research hospitals in Canada, specializing in innovative, practice-changing research. Your cycling adventure will have an impact on that leading edge research and clinical trials.

From the cannon used as a “starter’s pistol” to the “dog-tag” medals soldiers place around all participants necks at the finish line, this unique event is “military” from start to finish. More than anything, though, Canada Army Run, is about Canadians and the Canadian Armed Forces – Air Force, Army, and Navy – joining together in the spirit of camaraderie and community. It’s a chance for the troops to extend the military esprit de corps to Canadians and to thank them for their support. And, it’s an opportunity for Canadians to say thanks to the men and women who serve them in so many ways at home and abroad.

Late September brings with it the beginning of the beautiful fall colours in the Rideau Lakes Township and we want you to experience it firsthand.

Come join hundreds of cyclists on the roads in, around and between Perth, Murphy’s Point, Portland, and Westport.

Cyclosportive Perth is not a race–there will be no results and no timed sections.  You can go hard if you want, or you can simply take your time and enjoy the scenery.

We’ve got something for most everyone, from “The Roadie 100k” to “The Roadie Century” to the even more adventurous folks who like a bit of dirt and gravel with “The Dirty Version”–118k on a mix of paved and dirt roads.

The Cumberland Farmers’ Market features a variety of local area producers bringing you fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, specialty foods, homemade treats and a variety of artisan goods, on a weekly basis.

Over the course of the current season, more than 120 local producers of fruits, vegetables, prepared foods and artisan goods will take part in the market with an average of more than 40 indoor and outdoor vendors in attendance each week.

velofix Ottawa is the lead cyclist for this event. It’s a scenic run through the rolling hills of Cumberland – with an event for runners of all ages and abilities. This family-friendly event is a must do for anyone who loves the outdoors!

The annual Santa Parade in Orleans is lovingly called the Parade of Lights because the parade takes place in the evening and all floats are covered in lights! This event features over 75 floats and stretches through 3km of St Joseph Blvd in Orleans.

The Ottawa Bicycle Club is one of the oldest and largest bicycle clubs in Canada, with more than 1100 members.

The OBC offers a range of cycling programs which appeal to a range of cyclists from novice to experienced riders, for all age groups, including youth. Fully insured through the Ontario Cycling Association, the OBC’s priority is safety and education, and its cyclists ride over 300,000 kilometers each season on Ottawa-area roads with a negligible accident rate.

The OBC is run on a voluntary basis by members — only through an active membership can the club offer so many programs. Club members volunteer to lead the tours and organize club events.

Developing athletes takes more than just physical training.

At Bytown Triathlon our athletes develop multiple skill sets – physical, mental, emotional and social required to excel.

Our programs and coaching staff are focused on long term athlete development.   This model supports all of our athletes to pursue long term participation and personal success.

For the past 15 years we have been organizing, managing and running, triathlons, camps and clinics for all levels and all ages of athletes. Recreational to competitive, Kids to Adults.

Triathlon is a unique and demanding sport. Our athletes complete over 100 hours of training for each hour of racing. Our athletes are rewarded on race day for their consistency and commitment!

OMBA’s purpose is to improve mountain bike trail access by working with local landowners, stakeholders, clubs, and riders in the Ottawa/Outaouais region.

We are a non-profit, volunteer organization that applies best practices developed through our affiliation with the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). We build working relationships with land managers, develop and manage year-round trails, promote mountain biking initiatives, and host events for our local mountain biking community.
